WHAT WE DO
The PauseProject aims to integrate ethics into the fabric of Australia’s tech start-up sector. Technology is not inherently good or bad, nor is it neutral. Technologies have inbuilt social values and they generate social effects. The PauseProject will work with Australian start-ups to amplify the social good while mitigating social harms. This means bolstering innovation with carefully studied practices of ethical consideration.
The PauseProject is funded by the Australian Research Council and led by ANU sociologist, Dr. Jenny Davis. Jenny and her research team will work closely with stakeholders to understand barriers to, and opportunities for, ethical innovation. This includes in-depth interviews, observations, and workshops with industry professionals.
